Job Description
This role directly reports to the Director of Photography. The Associate Photo Editor will create day-to-day photo/visual solutions to support the digital and print editorial staff to maintain the visual standards of the brand.

Primary Responsibilities
 • Acquires photo research for both the web and the print editions of WIRED. 
• Research, source, license, and edit photos for specific verticals on Wired.com.  
• Commissions and produces photography for various stories and collaborates with editors and designers to determine what would best visually represent each article. 
• Handles all aspects of shoot production including: Creating call sheets and shot lists, hiring crew, negotiating rates for commissioned shoots, securing releases from models, securing location agreements and COIs, and handling file and retouching delivery. 
• Wrangling products/call-in, logs, organizes, and returns products for large production gadget shoots.  
• Reviews photographer portfolios and continuously searches for new talent and potential photo essays, for both print and online.
• Experience as a photographer a plus.

Desired Skills and Qualifications
• 3+ years of work experience in photography, media or relevant field.
• Knowledge of digital and social content.
• Highly organized, detail oriented, and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to contribute to editorial decisions and support the development of visual stories across all platforms
• Can creatively translate the needs of the brands and client into high quality output through a detailed understanding of the requirements of the platforms
